Williams takes oath as Snake River School Board member

Annis Williams was appointed Snake River trustee representing Zone Two. She will complete the term of Julie VanOrden who was elected to the legislature.
Her position comes up for election in May 2013 when she will have an opportunity, should she desire, to run for this office.
Snake River trustees unanimously approved asking their patrons to approve a $900,000 supplemental levy in their January meeting on Wednesday evening.
"There's a lot of great things happening in our school district," said Superintendent Mark Gabrylczyk. Idaho Code Article IX Section 1 gives the Legislature the responsibility "to establish and maintain a general uniform and thorough system of public, free common schools."
"Of the 115 school districts, 84 of them have supplemental levies," he said.
"So why are we thinking about a levy?" Gabrylczyk asked.
"The state is putting it on the shoulders of the districts to determine what type of school system we want," he said. "We need the community's help to continue the momentum we have so we can continue going forward.
The supplemental levy would be used for operations, said Gabrylczyk. "This will be used to keep us going."
"Something has to happen with our school district to help our school continue to grow," said Marci Van Orden, a member of the district's Strategic Planning committee.
Board chair Korden Wray said, "We want to go forward; this is our intention, our responsibility and our job."
Trustees are asking patrons to approve a $900,000 supplemental levy that would be in effect from July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2015. The election date for this levy is March 12.
