Bradach Meline, age 10, had his first birthday party ever at Jensen Grove in Blackfoot on Thursday. He and his 11 friends played in the water, played games, ate pizza and chocolate cake and drank root beer.
Bradach's mother is cancer survivor, Brady Meline. Meline has survived breast cancer and is currently fighting bone cancer.
"I also have heart failure," Meline said. "My cousins in Las Vegas have set up a 501©3 foundation to help raise funds to pay for medical bills."
"We do runs to help raise money to pay for medical bills," she said. "Our most recent challenge is to do 1,000 miles on their own terms—by walking, running, skiing or snowshoeing. We want to get people out and moving. We also offer prizes."
"I live in an amazing neighborhood of people," Meline said. "They include Bradach to make sure he gets to tennis, baseball, basketball camp and golfing.
The birthday party was paid for by Shane Wilker, founder of the Shannon Wilker Foundation. Wilker established this foundation in honor of his wife, Shannon, who died of breast cancer seven years ago.
