Penny Maye Gentillon, 35

REXBURG — Penny Maye Wheeler Blacker Gentillon, 35, of Pingree passed Monday, May 9, 2011, at the Madison Memorial Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Jan. 16, 1976, in Idaho Falls to Norman LaMar and Julia Diane Ricks Wheeler. Penny attended Hillview, Ammon Elementary and graduated from Hillcrest High School. She received her Medical Assistant’s Certificate from EITC in Idaho Falls.
On Nov. 28, 2008, she married Clinton Gentillon in Firth. They made their home in Pingree; she has resided in the Blackfoot area the past nine and a half years.
Penny was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She enjoyed kayaking, cave exploring and outdoor activities. She loved farm life and taking care of the livestock and exhibiting them at the fair. She earned her Black Belt in Tae Kwando.
She worked as a medical assistant at the Blackfoot Medical Clinic for several years and participated in Relay for Life.
Penny is survived by her husband, Clinton; stepchildren, Dylon Gentillon (9) and Rachel Gentillon (6), all of Pingree; her mother, Diane Wheeler of Ammon; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ron and Vickie Gentillon of Pingree; siblings: Tammy (Darren) Furman of Rexburg; Tracy Belton and Joy (Wally) Helsley, both of Idaho Falls; Kevin (Tracey) Wheeler of Proctor, Mont.; Allen (Diedre) Wheeler of Alton, Illinois; Amy (Paul) Orr of Idaho Falls; Danele (Mark) Sorensen of Shelley; Nolan Wheeler of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Keri Wheeler of Ammon and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Norman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2011, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot. The family will meet with friends and family  from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011, at the funeral home and again for one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
