Lee's Service celebrates 60 years as U-Haul dealer in Blackfoot

Lee's Service will celebrate 60 years of working with U-Haul on Wednesday, June 13, at the shop, 381 NW Main St. in Blackfoot. Lee's Service and U-Haul Rental in Blackfoot will be honored by U-Haul® for dedicating 60 years to meeting Idaho's self-move needs on Wednesday, June 13. Bingham County residents are invited to Lee’s Service at 381 NW Main St. from 1-4 p.m. for a behind-the-scenes facility tour, complimentary barbecue lunch and awards presentation for the longtime U-Haul neighborhood dealer. Lunch will be served on a first-come basis.
Layne and Michaelene Herbst bought the shop from Layne's father, Leland (Lee) in 1997. The couple's son, Chase, also is employed at the shop.
"We have full service pumps where we also check the oil and clean your windows," Michaelene said. "There are also self-service pumps. Customers need to come into the office to pay since we do not have pay-at-the-pump. We also sell premium ethanal free gas that is recommended for small engines such as lawnmowers, four-wheelers, chainsaws, motorcycles and snow machines in the winter."
"We do general automative maintenance and repair," she said. "We have a 24-hour wreckers and have been renting U-Hauls for 60 years."
