Lady Panthers clip Lady Eagles 49-46

THOMAS — 3A powerhouses collided on the hardwood at Snake River High School on Wednesday evening as the top two ranked 3A teams in the state locked horns for the first of what will be several showdowns this season.
Last year, the two teams were as close as they could be as Marsh Valley dropped Snake River on three different occasions by a grand total of five points. Wednesday, Snake River got over the proverbial hump as they erased those memories with a hard fought, physical 49-46 victory.
"Marsh Valley and Snake River. Neither one of us are going away after this one game but it was nice to get a win against them," Snake River head coach Rich Dunn said. "I don't think that they shot the ball as well as they have or can tonight so when we go to their place we will need to tighten it up even more."

Marsh Valley led 14-11 early in the second quarter but Snake River heated up, going on a 16-2 run to close out the have for seven point bulge.
"I loved our defensive intensity and hustle tonight," Coach Dunn said.
The defending state champs battled back however as as the game got closer, the physical play on the court became more evident as bodies hit the floor and into the stands as Kylie Coby dented the bleachers.
Undaunted, Coby hit a key three point basket down the stretch to push the Lady Panther lead back to 7 when it looked as if Marsh Valley had the momentum. Coby led the Lady Panthers with 12 points on the night.
"Kylie is a tough girl and tonight we took on her toughness as a team," Coach Dunn said. "For her to come out after denting the bleachers and hit that big three when we needed it most was big. She saw the floor so well tonight and without Kylie Coby we aren't' where we are right now."
Brylie Bair added ten while Makena Shelley tallied 9 as Snake River improves to 14-1 on the year and 2-0 in conference play.
Next up for Snake River is on the road at Teton Saturday evening for a non-conference tilt with the Lady Redskins. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
