Bees take down Broncos 3-0

IDAHO FALLS — Coming into the High Country Conference 4A district tournament the Blackfoot Broncos sat in the sixth seed. For most of the first game against Bonneville on Tuesday evening, Blackfoot looked every bit of a higher seed as they took it to the Bees for most of the game.
Unfortunately the Broncos could not hold onto a lead, falling 25-22.
"Bonneville only had 4 kills on us in that first game and we gave up some valuable points," Blackfoot head coach Lorin Lilya said. "We just have to get rid of the errors, that is where our main problem is."
From there, Blackfoot played hard, holding several leads throughout the evening but were unable to close the deal as Bonneville sent Blackfoot into the left hand side of the tournament bracket with a 3-0 win.
"We had a lead in every game and then we would fall back into our old habits," coach Lilya said. "We are getting out of them, we're slowly getting out of them and from what I saw in the first game that we played them this year and to how we played them tonight we are getting better."
Despite the set back and the long hard row that Blackfoot will have to hoe if they hope to make it to this years state tournament, Coach Lilya and the rest of the coaching staff saw some bright spots that they will look to build on for the future of the Bronco volleyball program.
"We're building for the future, we brought up a lot of girls tonight," coach Lilya said. "Tomorrow we will have a good bunch. I really want them to understand what districts are all about and to foresee the future of them being here and being one of the top seeded teams. I think that we have that potential and we are working towards that."
