BLACKFOOT — Last Saturday, Miiko Toussaint of Blackfoot was named on of the 10 finalists in the Distinguished Young Women National Finals competition. She was awarded a $3,500 cash scholarship for being in the top 10 and another $1,000 for being in the top five in the fitness category.
"DYW is all about developing you; becoming your best self," said Toussaint. "It was really humbling to be a little fish in a big pond.
"I did my best," she said. "I stayed true to myself.
"[In my self expression answer,] I did really well until I talked about where babies came from," said Toussaint.
Asked to explain, she said, "The question was, 'Where do you see women in 10 years?'
