Randy Lee Ellsworth (Sheepdog), passed away from an extended illness, Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the age of 55.
Randy was a Shoshone-Bannock tribal member and a lifelong resident of the Fort Hall Indian Reservation, Idaho.
Randy was born July 19, 1958 to the late Donner Bernard Ellsworth, Sr. and Evelyn Mae George Ellsworth. He was the seventh of children born to Donner and Evelyn.
He lived at the family home on Ellsworth Road with his brother, Nathan, and daughter, Maria Ellsworth; together they continued raising cattle and horses.
Randy attended public schools in Tyhee and Pocatello, Idaho and Intermountain School in Brigham City, Utah.
Randy enjoyed the outdoors, camping, spearfishing for salmon with family and friends; he especially loved chasing wild horses on the Fort Hall bottoms, and in the fall going on family outings to collect wood and go hunting.
He is survived by his daughter, Maria Ellsworth of Fort Hall; his siblings, Adonnis Ellsworth of Fort Hall; Donner Ellsworth, Jr. of Havasu Lake, Calif.; Gary Ellsworth of Fort Hall; Millicent Randleas of Fort Hall; and Nathan Ellsworth of Fort Hall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; uncle, Vincent Ponzo; aunt, Leota P. Ballard; paternal grandparents, Elmer Ellsworth and Dolly Waterhouse Ponzo and maternal grandparents, Eugene and Susie Snipe George and sister, Winona J. Ellsworth.
Randy worked at various jobs on the reservation and around the area in various laborer positions.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot. Randy’s body will be taken to the Adonnis Ellsworth residence on Hiline Road on Monday at noon until the prayer service on Tuesday and then again on Wednesday until time of burial.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the funeral home with visitation to follow until 9 p.m.
A traditional burial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the Cedar Cemetery in Fort Hall.
