The standoff in Firth on Saturday afternoon started after a man was stabbed.
"We were first alerted by an anonymous caller who reported there was a fight," said Bingham County Sheriff Craig Rowland.
The man who was the center of the standoff, 59-year-old Roger Vincent Arellano, was arrested on Saturday.
Arellano has been charged with aggravated battery for use of a deadly weapon and causing great bodily harm. The maximum sentence is up to 15 years and/or $50,000 fine.
Bingham County Prosecutor Cleve Colson reported the defendant has also been given notice of intent by the state of two sentencing enhancements. These enhancements are:
° use of a deadly weapon that increases the sentence by up to 15 years.
° persistent violator that increases the sentence by a minimum of five years to life.
The state has requested a $500,000 bond which was set by the judge, Colson said.
The stabbing victim, 47-year-old Jerry Bunce, was taken by ambulance to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls on Saturday. He was discharged from the hospital at 4:35 p.m. on Sunday.
