FIRTH — The Rise Up 2013 Encampment, Celebrating 100 Years of Scouting in the LDS Church, kicks off next Wednesday. Over 10,500 youth and adults are registered.
"After nearly 2 years of planning we are excited that the event is finally here," said Brian Porter, Director of Support Service, Boy Scouts of America, Grand Teton Council.
Workers from Signature Party Rental from Idaho Falls were on site Friday erecting the dining hall tent. The tent is 40 feet wide, 75 feet long and 10 feet high.
Benson Smith said it takes from four to five hours to put up this size tent. Tuesday is his deadline to have all the tents up for the encampment.
The event has three Ziplines, three BMX tracks and three climbing walls. Scouts can take on shotgun shooting and archery plus more activities.
Family history activities are also available.
There is a show each night. Wednesday night features the acapella group, Eclipse. Thursday night features the Nashville Tribute Band and a Laser Show. Friday night features The Dutton Family from Branson, Mo. (The Dutton Family was on America’s Got Talent several years ago.) A fireworks show is also scheduled on Friday night.
