BLACKFOOT — Blackfoot High School (BHS) INTERACT Service Club students will be selling Bronco Spirit T-Shirts to raise money for a very special cause. Interact is a Rotary sponsored service club for youth and has recently partnered with the national Make-A-Wish Foundation to make a local four year old girl's wish come true. Make-A-Wish is the largest wish granting organization in the world, granting wishes to children with life threatening medical conditions.
"We are so happy to help this little girl," said Brandi Bird, INTERACT president. "Ivana is an adorable four year old diagnosed with cancer from the Blackfoot area. We would like to make her wish of going to Disney World come true."
Bird said the club has been working hard to raise the estimated $6,000 goal by selling baked goods, concessions and reaching to generous local individuals and companies. The Bronco Spirit T-shirt sale is the most recent effort to raise money for the cause.
Broadway Graphics and the Eastern Idaho State Fair have donated to the cost of the T-shirts and all of the proceeds will go toward the fundraising goal.
Greg Garrett, owner of Broadway Graphics in Blackfoot donated 50 percent of the cost of the shirts because of his family experience with a child having cancer.
"My daughter, as a child, had Hodgkin lymphoma. We know first hand how great the Make-A-Wish Foundation's efforts can impact the lives of these families. By donating the t-shirts for this cause, we in a small way paying back what our family received in support the community when we went through a similar experience.
Bird said that Ivana and her family are scheduled to leave for Disney World on Jan. 8, 2013, so sales are encouraged prior to that date; however, the T-shirts will remain on sale for as long as they last with proceeds continuing to go Make-A-Wish.
Anyone interested in purchasing the Bronco Go Green/Go White T-shirts for $10 each can contact Bird by email at email@example.com or by calling 680-3850. The shirts are also available at Broadway Graphics (22 N. Broadway) in Blackfoot.
