BLACKFOOT — A flock of pink flamingoes, whether real or fake, is not something you see in people's yards in Blackfoot every day. However, if pink flamingoes happen to mysteriously appear in your yard within the next two week, it's likely that you've been "flocked" as part of a fundraiser for the Community Dinner Table (CDT).
Ronda Cheatham, food distribution coordinator for the CDT, said, the "You've Been Flocked" fundraiser is all in fun and is to help raise money for the CDT Christmas boxes, (food-filled boxes) that are distributed to families in need prior to Christmas.
Cheatham said the Christmas boxes are done in addition to the Tuesday night dinners offered by CDT throughout the winter months.
"The boxes consist of about 75 pounds of food, enough to make two or three meals, plus a traditional Christmas meal," she said.
Cheatham said it is an ongoing to effort to keep food supplied for the Christmas boxes and has set a goal of $2,000 for the "You've Been Flocked" fundraiser, exceeding last year's effort of $1,600.
Anyone who is "flocked," can have the flock removed and sent to someone else for a donation to the CDT, or they can simply make arrangements to "flock" someone else for $20.
"The Christmas boxes are an expensive venture; the community's help is always needed and greatly appreciated," she added. "And we are always looking for volunteers or groups that would like to help with food donations."
Anyone wishing to "flock" someone or needing more information about CDT can call 208-557-8232 or 208-785-3611.
