Edward Martin Madson, 75, of Butte City, passed away peacefully with family members by his side on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 at the Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot.
Ed was born on July 1, 1937 in Jackson, Wyo., to Enoch Paul and Edna Henry Madson. He was raised and educated in the Jackson Hole area. Throughj is life he resided in Jackson; Salt Lake City, Utah; Blackfoot and Butte City. He was elected mayor of Butte City in 2001 and was currently serving in that capacity.
Ed was married to Danielle Marie Darling in 1958 in Jerome. Together they raised 4 children, 2 sons and 2 daughters. They also owned and operated E and D Refrigeration. He also worked for Irrigation Centers in Arco.
Ed served in the Navy during the Korean War and was stationed in Monterey, Calif.
Ed enjoyed fishing, boating, horse racing and gardening. He was racing secretary for the Idaho Fair Circuit for many years.
He is survived by his two sons, Danny (Lisa) of Rigby and Dennis of Auburn, Wash.; two daughters, Shawna (Wade) Armstrong of Pocatello and Sherri (Douglas) Rupe of Blackfoot,; two brothers, Ted (Toni) Madson of Jerome and Melvin (Lolly) of Nampa; two sisters, Pauline (Wayne) Patheal of Jerome, and Doris Atwood of Jerome, 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Danielle; parents and brother Henry and his great-granddaughter, Hannah Isabelle Covington.
According to Ed’s wishes, cremation services have taken place and a memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Lost River Funeral Home, 317 Sunset Drive Arco. The family will meet with friends and relatives one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
