BLACKFOOT — A Blackfoot man died after an early morning crash Thursday that resulted in his vehicle catching fire.
Tobie Robinson, 23, of Blackfoot, was traveling northbound on Highway 91 in a 1995 Acura Legend at approximately 2:30 a.m. when for unknown reasons his vehicle went off the right side of the roadway near Shilling Street, according to the Idaho State Police. Robinson's vehicle came to rest on the embankment of the Blackfoot River. He was wearing his seatbelt and was trapped inside his vehicle as it started on fire, ISP said.
Blackfoot Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the vehicle, however Robinson had already succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash.
Alcohol is possibly a contributing factor in this crash. ISP was assisted at the scene by the Bingham County Sheriff's Office and the Blackfoot Police.
