February 25, 2015

BOISE (AP) — Idaho House legislative leaders have introduced legislation exempting the state from observing daylight saving time.

February 25, 2015

Johanna Finn had never heard of Blackfoot. And it was not what she had in mind when she decided to spend a year as a foreign exchange student (from Finland).
"I remember the first thought that came to my mind was Blackfoot? What is that? Where is that? I was a bit disappointed that I wasn't going to a bigger city or somewhere with a beach. But after some thought, I was eager to see what it would be like to live in the countryside."
It turned out to be just what she needed.

February 24, 2015

MANCHESTER-by-the-SEA, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts man has found a way to profit from the several feet of snow in his yard: He's shipping it to people in warmer climates for the bargain price of $89 for six pounds.
Kyle Waring, of Manchester-by-the-Sea, got the idea while shoveling snow earlier this winter and launched ShipSnowYo.com.
At first he shipped 16.9-ounce snow-filled bottles for $19.99, but he found the snow melted by the time it arrived at its destination.

Drop in federal road funding compounds Idaho's problems

February 22, 2015

BOISE (AP) — Total highway spending in Idaho has dropped nearly 20 percent in recent years, a dip that has compounded the state's road funding problems and added urgency for lawmakers seeking a solution.
One of the major reasons for the drop is an 8 percent decline in federal money. The state received $321 million in federal road funding in 2010. By 2013, that number had fallen to $295 million.
The reduction mirrors a national trend in which decreasing federal dollars have stalled road upkeep across the country, according to a review of data from The Associated Press.
