Vesta Lee Hone Gentilllon, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 21, 2012. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the York Road LDS Church building, 1291 West 65th South, Idaho Falls under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. The family will visit with friends from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Riverview Cemetery in Firth.
Vesta was born in Wapello, the youngest of seven children to Ralph and Allie Rollison Hone. As a child of the Great Depression, Vesta learned the value of hard work and thriftiness. Those traits have blessed her and her family.
She graduated from Blackfoot High School and worked as a telephone operator. She met her lifelong sweetheart of 65 years, Emile Gentillon, at the Crystal Maze Dance Hall in Firth. They were married Aug. 12, 1947. Together they farmed and raised their family in Firth. Vesta worked at Cal Ranch Farm stores and retired from the R.T. French Company.
Nampa became their home after retirement. She enjoyed working at the LDS Family History Center there. Her life was centered around her family and she especially enjoyed visits from all of her grandchildren. Vesta had a green thumb and always had a fruitful garden with beautiful roses and homegrown tomatoes.
Survivors include her husband, Emile E. Gentillon of Nampa; three children; Rita (Dean) Shafer of Nampa and Randy (Cindy) Gentillon and Kathy (David) Heninger, both of Idaho Falls; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren .
She was proceeded in death by a son, Noel H. Gentillon.
