Venice ‘Vince’ Pratt, 76
Venice “Vince” Pratt, 76, of Blackfoot passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012 at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot.
Vince was born Jan. 21, 1936 in Blackfoot to Joseph Adelaar Pratt and Alta Adel Hagen. He attended school in Blackfoot, Shelley and Salmon. He spent some time in California, moving back to Blackfoot in 1968.
Vince served his country in the United States Marines stationed most of the time in Japan.
On June 3, 1976 Vince married Karen Scott in Blackfoot.
Vince worked his early life as a truck driver for Texaco Oil, a moving company and Bingham County; he also drove a trolley in San Francisco. He worked at American Potato and owned and operated Vince Pratt Lumber in Blackfoot. He was a member of the Bingham County Sheriff Search and Rescue. He enjoyed being in law enforcement during the fair.
In his free time he enjoyed snowmobiling, four-wheeling, going to his cabin with his family and driving truck. He loved visiting and “BSing” with his friends. He was known for flipping his silver dollar on many deals for double or nothing.
Vince is survived by his wife, Karen of Blackfoot; a daughter, Stacy (Lance) Kelsey of Idaho Falls, stepchildren, Paul (Sheryn) Spencer of Afton, Wyo. and Kevin (Jean) Spencer of Kuna and Mary Kaye (Lynn) Hammond of Blackfoot; brothers, Don Pratt of Blackfoot, Shane Pratt of California; sisters, Nancy (Bob) Beamis of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Jane (Delwyn) Mickelson of Blackfoot; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Vince was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lennie Pratt.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot.
Family will meet with friends and family for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at the Grove City Cemetery.
