SR trustees do housekeeping chores

August 18, 2011

THOMAS — An open house for K-6 students and their parents in the Snake River School District is from 2:30—4:30 o'clock today at Moreland, Riverside, Rockford and the Snake River Middle School in Thomas.
Snake River trustees appointed Bill Martin to fill the Zone 3 trustee position.
Because of the federal Healthy Hunger Free Kids legislation, each school district has five years to bring the price of all meals up to a minimum of $2.46 for each meal. To meet this requirement, the trustees approved a 15-cent increase for each meal (breakfast and lunch) for three years, 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14. In 2014-15 and 2015-16, each meal will increase by 16 cents to meet the minimum cost required by the federal legislation.
The minimum cost will equal the reimbursement the school district receives for each free meal served.
The Idaho High School Association recognized Snake River High School for its academics, sportsmanship, citizenship and patriotism.
The Bingham Co-op Propane has given $5,967 to the Snake River School District through its Community Benefit Program. Through this program, Bingham Co-op donated one cent per gallon of propane delivered to its customers in its trading area. The customer designated the school district or school activity; Bingham Co-op made the donation.
