BLACKFOOT â€” The Relay for Life season is well underway with several great teams sponsoring some fun and unique fundraisers, but more teams are needed to make the event a success and to raise money for cancer research.
Teams who participate attend the overnight carnival-type event June 17-18 where there is great entertainment, food and fun. Teams also have the opportunity to celebrate cancer survivors as they lead the all-night walk around the track and participate in the moving luminaria ceremony at dark.
Those interested in forming a team can attend the team captain meeting Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. at the Meridian Center, 410 Meridian St.
Team registration is $100 for 10-20 members. Teams larger than 20 members should be two teams. All members will receive a T-shirt to wear to the event.
Team captains attend training meetings each month until the Relay for Life Event. Team captains recruit and register members for their teams, keep their members informed and encourage the team members to raise money for Relay for Life.
On the night of the event, teams are encouraged to set up a campsite and decorate it according to the theme of "Give Cancer the Boot." Teams are encouraged to have someone walking the track at all times from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
