Ramirez one hits Beavers in 10-0 win

April 5, 2012

Erica Ramirez was nearly unhittable on Wednesday as the talented junior allowed just one hit in the Lady Panthers 10-0 conference opening win over American Falls.

RIVERSIDE — Erica Ramirez tossed a 1 hit gem and the Snake River offense erupted for 10 runs on 11 hits as the Lady Panthers opened their conference slate with a convincing 10-0 win over American Falls on Wednesday afternoon.
"We'll take a ten run win anytime we can get it," Snake River head coach Kay Martin said. "It was a conference win and a conference win with authority and I am just pleased as punch with it."

After a perfect 1-2-3 first inning by Ramirez, the Lady Panthers got what proved to be the winning run in the home half of the frame.
Snake River tacked on a run in the second, two in the fourth and then six more in the fifth to end the game via the mercy rule.
"The girls did a good job at the plate," Coach Martin said. "The American Falls pitcher is pretty steady. She stays around the plate and tries to get the girls to chase that high pitch but the girls did a good job of laying off of that for the most part and then put the ball into play with some solid hits."
Chelsey Martin was one of those who consistently put the ball into play as the junior finished 3 for 3 on the day. Kara Polatis ripped an RBI double and Alyssa Delaney turned in a 3 for 3, 4 RBI day which included a double in the fifth inning of play.
Ramirez was the lucky recipient of all the offensive production as the steady junior was in complete control in her five innings of work for the win.
"Erica is throwing super easy right now," Coach Martin said. "She doesn't get flustered. She moves the ball around and she has command of all three of her pitches right now."
Snake River (9-2, 1-0) will be off until next Tuesday when they will travel to Preston for a non-conference tilt with the 4A Indians.
