BLACKFOOT â€” Despite a down economy, one local business has been growing and is now looking to hire at least 50 new employees.
Premier Technology, Inc., a manufacturing, engineering and construction firm, has recently received several new contracts, requiring the company to seek additional employees.
Premier Technology has partnered with the Idaho Department of Labor to host job fairs throughout the state. The fair in Blackfoot is today from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Department of Labor, 155 N. Maple St.
Mike Nelson, Premier Technology human resource manager, said they are seeking employees with a combination of education and experience. But most of all, they want to hire individuals with the discipline to get things done.
High unemployment throughout the country has created a larger hiring pool of qualified employees. There are a variety of positions available including engineers and project managers as well as welders and machine operators. Nelson encouraged anyone with qualifications or experience to attend the job fair in Blackfoot today to discuss the positions.
Jobs at Premier are typically high-paying, and the additional jobs in Blackfoot should provide a boost to the local economy and is an indication that Premier Technology will continue to provide jobs in the future, according to Dan Cravens, the regional economist for the Idaho Department of Labor.
â€śItâ€™s exactly the kinds of jobs we want to attract in Idaho,â€ť Cravens said. â€śItâ€™s extremely significant for the Blackfoot area.â€ť
Nelson said they are currently seeking to fill 50 positions, but may hire additional employees in the near future. Job listings with descriptions are available online at www.ptius.com.
