Panthers, Cougars roll to easy wins

Brylie Bair had 9 kills and Kenna Shelley added 3 as Snake River downed Bear Lake 25-12, 25-17, 25-14 in District 5 volleyball action on Wednesday.

The Panthers (35-5, 1-0) had little trouble with the Bears (0-1). The teams were deadlocked 4-4 in game one before Snake River went on an 8-0 run. Bear Lake led briefly again in game two, but the Panthers started with a 6-0 run in game three and methodically pulled away.
Carter and Shelley had an ace apiece while Kylee Orr had 16 assists.
"We had a hard time tonight because we've out of school right now for potato harvest," said Snake River coach Shelli Van Orden. "But we have nice serves from Josie Carter; our libero, Hannah Murdock did a nice job; and Ashli Lund and Carter were good on blocks."
The Panthers will be at Sugar-Salem at 7:30 p.m. for a non-conference match with the Diggers.
AT FIRTH, Bailey Nelson had a dozen kills and Kayla Jensen added 8 as Firth slammed South Fremont 25-6, 25-16, 25-19.
Kylie McCree had 5 kills and 2 blocks while Ashley Sanders added 4 kills and 4 aces. Jordyn Park had 24 assists.
Firth, now 9-4 and 2-0 in District Six play, is at West Jefferson tonight at 7 p.m.
