Osborn, Fairchild earn High Country Conference honors

BLACKFOOT — After helping lead the Blackfoot baseball team to a second place finish in the District 5/6 regular season standings a pair of Broncos earned High Country All-Conference honors on Friday.
Senior shortstop Russell Osborn earned second team infielder honors and Dallin Fairchild earned a pair of honors one as an honorable mention pitcher, the other as a second team outfielder.
Osborn recovered well from offseason shoulder surgery to be a key cog to the Broncos defense and at the top of the batting order. The senior routinely made the tough plays look easy and was a vocal leader for the team all season.
Fairchild was one of a handful of players to earn all-conference honors in multiple positions.
As one of a half dozen pitchers for the Broncos, Fairchild and his left handed delivery kept hitters off balance every time he took the mound for the team.
Fairchild also played a very solid right field for the Broncos which earned him a second team outfield nod.
The player of the year was Skyline's Jordan Hadley, Madison's Luke Mecham was named the coach of the year.
Hillcrest led all the team in the High Country Conference with seven players earning honors. Bonneville, Skyline and Idaho Falls each had six players earn honors.
