Marvin Earl Christiansen, 76, of Blackfoot passed away Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.
He was born Dec. 11, 1934 in Blackfoot, the son of William Earl Christiansen and Orissa M. Hansen.
Marvin graduated from Snake River High School.
He was a member of the National Guard.
On February 1, 1969, he married Judy Deon Winterbottom in Blackfoot. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 2, 2006.
He worked as a service repairman for Blackfoot Appliance for 18 years and at Sears for 8 years. He also worked at Basic American Foods for 18 years.
He was a member of the Blackfoot 10th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Marvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, crossword puzzles and being a Grandpa and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Judy of Blackfoot; children, Richard Marvin (Kelli) Christiansen and Misty Sue (George) Speas, all of Blackfoot; daughters, Marvann and Paulette from a previous marriage; sister, Norma Waddoups of Blackfoot; and five grandchildren, Quentin, Hannah, Jaxon, Trevor, and Richard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Arlin Christiansen.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at the Blackfoot 10th Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Richard Bigler conducting. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot.
A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
