February 9, 2014

The staging area for the stand-off in Firth was the parking lot at Stop 'n' Shop on Hwy. 91. The confrontation started after a person was stabbed.

FIRTH – There were plenty of flashing lights in Firth Saturday afternoon. Law enforcement vehicles, a fire engine and QRU units were on hand along Hwy. 91.
A fight in an alley on Saturday ended with a man being stabbed.
The suspect then barricaded himself in a house on Wilson Street near Hwy. 91.
The confrontation started at 15:59 hours (almost 4 o’clock) and ended at 18:33 hours (about 6:30 p.m.).
Law enforcement officers breeched the house, knocking down the door, and arrested the suspect.
The stabbing victim was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) and was still in surgery in the early evening on Saturday.
The suspect is currently in the Bingham County Jail, “where he should be,” said Bingham County Sheriff Craig Rowland.
Twenty law enforcement officers, including state police who blocked roads, Shelley police, Blackfoot police and Bingham County deputies took part in this situation.
The staging area for most of the law enforcement vehicles was in the parking lot of Stop ‘n’ Shop on Hwy. 91 in Firth.
