Lida Hale, 97, of Pingree passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 at The Emerald House in Blackfoot, from causes incident to age.
Lida was born Nov. 28, 1915 in Thomas to Jacob L. VanOrden and Wilhelmina Steubesand.Â She was raised in Thomas and graduated from Thomas High School in 1933.Â She then attended Idaho State University in Pocatello and studied Home Economics.
On Nov. 28, 1934 Lida married Calvin Leroy Hale in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Â
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.Â She served in numerous callings, including Relief Society president, Primary president and in the Sunday School.Â
Lida was a wonderful homemaker.Â In her free time, she enjoyed quilting, reading, knitting, cooking, crocheting, and gardening.Â She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Lida is survived by her children,Â Lawana (Jay) Cornelison of Pingree;Â Leroy (Carolyn) Hale of Arizona City, Ariz., currently serving a mission in Zimbabwe Africa; Alden (Glenna) Hale of Pingree; Rochelle (Roy) Welty of Centerville, Utah, currently serving a mission in Ukraine; Kaylen (Von) Mecham of Pingree and Ramona (Jim) Randall of Riverside; daughter-in-law Ima Hale of Pingree; brothers, Rulon VanOrden, Maurice VanOrden and Wayne VanOrden; sister, Carol Fields; 35 grandchildren; 88 great- grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Calvin; son, Mark; brothers, Melvin, Phillip and Horace VanOrden; sisters, Macksene VanOrden and an infant baby girl; grandson, Kurt; and great-grandson, Kurtis.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at the Pingree LDS Church.Â Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church.Â Interment will follow at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.Â Condolences may be sent to the family at firstname.lastname@example.org.
