"We seemed to lack some offensive intensity in the first half and missed some easy opportunities," said Coach Steve Morton. "We made some adjustments at half time and rode our strong defense to the win tonight."
Hitting only two of ten shots in the first quarter, the Snake River quintet found themselves tied with Teton after the first quarter at 5. Teton also found scoring to be tough and relied on a three ball from Mikiah Dansie to knot the score just before the end of the quarter. Dansie's trey was one of four the sophomore would make during the contest and all four bank shots from long range.
The Lady Panthers used their strong defensive game to force numerous turnovers by Teton to keep the Lady Redskins at bay, forcing eleven first half miscues and turned them into ten second quarter points, enough for a 15-11 half time lead.
"Once we got the lead before half time, we knew that we could make some adjustments to take control of the game with our height advantage," said Coach Morton. "We made a strong effort to get Jocelyn Harper and Eden Van Orden the ball in the third quarter and they responded with ten points between them."
Between them, Harper and Van Orden scored easy bucket after easy bucket, getting the ball inside on superb passing from Whitney Dance and Laura Thompson.
The game was effectively put away as the Lady Panthers forced fourteen second half turnovers and opened up a sizeable lead that at one point reached 24 points.
With the post players controlling the boards, Snake River out rebounded the shorter Lady Redskins 31-14 with Harper gathering in nine and Van Orden picking up seven.
The two teams traded baskets for most of the fourth quarter as the tempo slowed to a crawl and the Lady Panthers eventually prevailed by the final score of 44-28.
