Lady Panthers draw with Lady Cougars

August 30, 2012

Kenzie Lynn battles with the South Fremont player during second half action on Wednesday.

THOMAS - A day removed from a hard fought 2-1 road win at Teton the Snake River Lady Panthers returned home to tangle with a South Fremont squad whom the Lady Panthers had vanquished just a week previous.
Unfortunately, a combination of missed first half opportunities and a building fatigue factor from back-to-back games led to a 0-0 tie by games end.

"I was dead, really tired today," senior captain Kenzie Lynn said. "I felt like we had it under control though. I never got nervous."
"It's hard to make that trip to Driggs and then make that two hour bus ride home and play the next day," Snake River head coach Randy Turpin echoed.
Despite the mounting fatigue Snake River still controlled the tempo of the game as they placed fifteen first half shots on goal while holding the visiting Lady Cougars to no meaningful scoring opportunities. A combination of just missed shots and some solid saves by the South Fremont goal keeper left the score at nil-nil however.
"I was getting a little frustrated when I missed," Senior captain Madison Pilster said. "They were doubling us up front and we didn't pass the ball as well as we did against Teton though."
"When Madison was at Blackfoot she was on defense and last year she played midfield for us so it will take a little while to get comfortable up front," Coach Turpin said. "South Fremont saw her last week though and they were ganging up on her. We need some of the other girls to step up and help out a little on the offensive side."
Second half play slowed a bit as the tired legs started to show but even so, Snake River stayed on the attack.
"The best defense is a good offense," Coach Turpin said. "I just didn't want to give up any garbage shots where the ball mixes up in front and somebody gets one home on us."
That never happened as the Lady Panthers record moves to 2-1-2 on the year with the tie.
