Juan Alba Gomez, 73
Juan Alba Gomez, 73, of Blackfoot passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello from diabetes.
He was born June 24, 1939 in Purisima de Bustos Guanajuato, Mexico, to Marcelo Alba and Francisca Gomez, the ninth of 12 children.
He grew up in Purisima de Bustos Guanajuato, Mexico, and worked as a harvester on his dadâ€™s land and also helped raise cattle.Â Juan also was the owner of three freight trucks.
On July 17, 1963, he married Isabel Alba.
He decided to come to the United States in 1969.Â In 1972, he decided to bring his family to the States and lived in San Bernardino, Calif.Â He worked in a fruit packaging company for 5 years.Â Later he went back to Mexico with his wife and children to be with his parents until they passed away.Â Then in 1984, he moved back to California and in 1985 moved his family to Blackfoot.Â Â He worked in the potato and beet harvest for Wada Farms.Â He also worked at NonPareil and at Gale Lim Construction.
He enjoyed listening to music by Pedro Infante, Jose Alfredo Jimenez and Javier Solis.Â He enjoyed planting a garden and raising pigs and cattle.
He is survived and remembered by his wife, Isabel Alba of Blackfoot; his seven children, Maria Auxilio Guzman, Marcelo Alba, Fransica Cruz, Jose Juan Alba, Carolina Robison, Adan Alba and Alvin Roberto Alba; 21 grandchildren (14 girls and 7 boys); and four sisters.Â He will be remember with kindness and love by all his family, including nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be conducted from 3:30-6:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at St. Bernardâ€™s Catholic Church, 584 West Sexton St.
