Irene Hofhine, 72, our sweet wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at St. Lukeâ€™s Hospital in Meridian on Oct. 3, 2012.
She was born in 1940 in Blackfoot. She was the daughter of Charles and LaVerne Hatch. She graduated from Firth High School in 1958.
In 1961 she married her high school sweetheart, Paul H. Hofhine. They lived in numerous places including Utah, Idaho, California, and 20 years in Mesa, Ariz. They raised four children.
Irene loved to be with her family, for whom she had complete love and devotion. She was an excellent seamstress. She loved to travel, especially with her family and her extended family. She enjoyed nature, especially bird-watching.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We will always cherish the memories we have with this sweet, beautiful woman.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Paul; her children, Susan (Paul) Dykman, Teresa (Regan) Eardley, Michelle (Robert) Kelleher, and Steven (Sarah) Hofhine; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Lambert; brother, Charles Hatch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Eardley; and brother, Alan Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at the LDS Church building on Amity and Locust Grove in Meridian on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. with a viewing from 10 to 10:45.
