The potato company, GPOD of Shelley donated six tons—12,000 pounds—of Russet Burbank Potatoes to the Blackfoot Community Pantry and Outreach on Tuesday as part of the Harvest for Hunger campaign that is sponsored by CHS Bingham Coop.
The CHS Harvest for Hunger campaign started on March 1 and concludes on Tuesday, March 20. For more information, call CHS Bingham Coop at (208) 785-3440 or visit communitydinnertable.org
"We are amazed at the generosity of the community and appreciate everyone who makes this work," Harvest for Hunger Team Captain Denise Smith said. "It's a team effort."
"CHS credits us with the pounds of food donated so it works out great for the Community Pantry," she said. "The Pantry gets the food and then receives a check for the number of pounds contributed."
