FIRTH - Firth High School Athletic Director Roger Harrison and Principal Jeff Gee have announced the hiring of a new wrestling coach. Taking over the duties of Keith Drake will be former Blackfoot High School wrestling coach Kent Taylor. Taylor will not be teaching at the high school and will concentrate all of his activities to the wrestling program.
"I was asked to help out with the middle school wrestling program this past season and things went pretty well," Taylor said. "I have a couple of grandkids who are athletes and they liked to wrestle, so I offered to lend a hand."
Taylor, while at Blackfoot High School, led the wrestling program to four state championships, in fact they were the first of the state championship banners to be hung in the school's gymnasium.
In addition to the four championships, Blackfoot also finished second twice and third three times during Taylor's tenure as the head coach.
