Firth cowboys shine under the lights in Blackfoot

BLACKFOOT — It wasn't exactly the warmest of May night's at the Eastern Idaho State Fairgrounds Friday night, but the cowboys from Firth gave the fans in the stands a reason to get off their feet.
Colton Clemens started off the night with the only qualified ride in bareback and bull rider Brady Oleson recorded the only score in Saddle Bronc riding as the second night of the District 4 high school rodeo took to the arena of the EISF.
Layton Wasia came about a half a second short of completing his eight second ride in the Saddle Bronc but his horse bucked him off to left almost catching his foot at the same time.
Shelley's Korrina Morgan raced through the pole bending course blazing a time of 20.733 the quickest time on the night.
Aberdeen's Lexie Lehman recorded the second quickest time with a 21.752. Cecelia Stephenson of Blackfoot led the Broncos contingent of riders with a 22.041.
Defending all-around cowgirl Timmi Hutchings did not have the ride she wanted as she knocked down two poles earning a time of 31.677.
Snake River's Spencer Moulton came home second in tie down roping with a tim of 13.38, Blackfoot's Clay Stone was third with a 13.89.
Stone and his Blackfoot teammates took all of the top three spots in steer wrestling.
Ty Chappell came in first with a 7.51, Stone was second with a 7.81 and Will Chappell was third with a 8.96.
Rodeo action continues today at 11 a.m.
