Fire burning in Wolverine

IDAHO FALLS — Lightning ignited a wildfire in the Wolverine area late this afternoon. The Wolverine Fire is estimated to be 150 acres and is continuing to grow. The fire is located approximately nine miles east of Firth.
“Downdrafts from passing thunderstorm activity is moving the fire laterally across the slopes in both directions,” stated Rick Belger, BLM Fire Management Officer. Numerous resources have responded to the scene including: 7 engines; 2 dozers; 1 water tender; 2 Type II hand crews; air attack; 1 type II helicopter; 5 Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATS); and 10 smoke jumpers. No structures are threatened at this time.
