Delbert Olen Bateman, 83, of Blackfoot passed away Saturday, Nov.3, 2012 at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Delbert was born Feb. 4, 1929 in Salmon to Olen Valintine Bateman and Alma Marie Hebertson.Â He lived most of his life in Blackfoot, attending school in Pingree and Thomas.Â
On May 26, 1951 Delbert married Norma Jean Hall in Blackfoot.Â They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.Â
Delbert was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.Â He served many years in the Boy Scouts of America, many of these years as scoutmaster, and served as ward clerk.
He worked as a truck driver for Horrocks Redi Mix and Monroc.Â In his free time he enjoyed camping and going on road trips.
Â Â Â Delbert is survived by his wife, Norma Jean of Blackfoot; children, Dale (Vickie) Bateman of Boise; John (Lori) Bateman of Kelseyville, Calif.; Lynda (Dave) Higggins of Blackfoot; Kelly (Vickie) Bateman of Moreland and Tom Bateman of Blackfoot,; sister, Leah Parris of Moreland; 13 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at noon on Friday, Nov.9, 2012 at the Grove City Cemetery. Â Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov.8, 2012 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot, and for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.Â
