Dallas Hepworth Horrocks, 86, of Blackfoot passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2013 following an extended illness.
She was the first of six daughters born to Gladys and DeLynn Hepworth on Feb. 12, 1927 in Blackfoot.
During her schooling, she enjoyed learning and excelled in track.Â Dallas graduated from Blackfoot High School and later received a bachelorâ€™s degree in Education from Idaho State University.Â Following her college graduation she enjoyed teaching English at the Blackfoot Middle School until her retirement in 1985.Â
On March 12, 1953, she married Charles Horrocks in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.Â Together they have four children: Jan (John) Miller of Newcastle, Calif.; Michael (Nanci) Horrocks of Blackfoot; Mark (Sherri) Horrocks of Sterling; and Scott (Michelle) Horrocks of Lava Hot Springs.Â
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held many positions in the church, especially in the Primary organization.Â Her first date with Charles, came through the dance festival program of the church.Â Following their marriage, they enjoyed serving as dance directors for many years.Â Â Â
Dallas loved nature and received great joy from her beautiful flower gardens. Her flower bouquets are legendary.Â She tended and cared for her garden with love throughout her life.Â She enjoyed sewing, home decorating, art, and cooking family meals.Â Â
She loved spending time with her family on fishing trips in Yellowstone Park, and summer vacations to Lake Powell.Â She enjoyed traveling and was able to see many parts of the world with her family.Â She appreciated many good friends in Blackfoot, sharing years of memorable activities with them.Â Â
Dallas is survived by her husband, Charles; two sisters, Linda (Doug) Wixom and Donna (Wayne) VanOrden; their four children, 17 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.Â Her parents and three sisters preceded her in death.Â Her family loves her. We are grateful she has returned to her heavenly home.
The family will meet with friends and relatives at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot on Friday, May 31, 2013 from 6-8 p.m.Â
A funeral service will take place Saturday, June 1, 2013, at 11 a.m., at the 12th Ward LDS Church, 1289 Mount Putnam Drive, with a viewing an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Grove City Cemetery.
