City council meeting will be busy one

Tonight's city council will be a busy one as Blackfoot kicks off a new year and a new era.
Mayor-elect Paul Loomis. along with three city councilmen (Chris Jensen, Lane Gardner and Bart Brown) and one city councilwoman (Jan Simpson), will be sworn in for four-year terms as city leaders.
Prior to the swearing in of the newly elected officials, outgoing mayor Mike Virtue will conclude a bit of business on the Idaho Airport Aid Program Resolution and the city's personal leave usage extension request.
A presentation will be given to Joan Thompson for over 20 years of service on the Transportation Commission and an award will be given to Brian Bates for his work on the wastewater treatment plant.
Additionally, members of the Blackfoot Fire Department will present Virtue with a special award.
The city council meeting starts at 7 p.m. at Blackfoot City Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
