Children's musical opens Monday at Snake River

The musical opens at 7 p.m. Monday at the Snake River High School auditorium. A pre-show begins at 6:45 p.m. The musical will be presented on Monday, Oct. 14, Tuesday, Oct. 15, Friday, Oct. 18, and Saturday, Oct. 19.

THOMAS — "The Island of No Return," a children's musical, opens at 7 p.m. on Monday at the Snake River High School auditorium. A pre-show starts at 6:45 p.m. while people are seated.
Tickets cost $5 per person.
Each evening, performances begin at 7 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday—Oct. 14, 15, 18 and 19. A pre-show starts at 6:45 p.m. while people are seated.
Eighty children fill the roles in this musical. The children are ages 3-13.
"It's organized chaos," said director Jana McBride.
Auditions took place Aug. 23, 24. The cast has been practicing since then.
The entire cast practiced from 6:30-8:30 p.m. each Thursday. The 19 children with the speaking roles also practiced from 6:30-8:30 p.m. each Friday and from 8-10 a.m. each Saturday.
"That's a lot of commitment of time," said McBride.
Jacob McBride designed and built the set for his Eagle Project.
"It was great," his mom, Jana McBride, said. "He completed his Eagle Scout Project and he helped me with the musical."
An artist in Blackfoot built the 13 foot palm trees.
"The set is awesome," said McBride.
The energy of the children is palpable. The performance is delightful.
