Pre-schoolers were studying the letter "J" at Storytime at the Snake River School Community Library Tuesday afternoon. Storytime is offered at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each Tuesday and Wednesday and at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the library.
The letter of the week is "J" at Storytime in the Snake River School Community Library.
Children ages 3-5 followed storyteller Peggy Hansen as she encouraged them to repeat, "Where is J? Here I am. What do you say J? J-j-j.
The color was blue and the nursery rhyme is "Jack and Jill went up the hill, to fetch a pail of water. Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after."
"We study a color and letter each week," Hansen said. "There's is a nursery rhyme each week.
"This helps early literature skills.
"Nursery rhymes teach rhyme and rhythm," said Hansen.
A book is read, wriggles are wriggled out and each child does a hands-on activity.
Hansen teaches Storytime at the Snake River School Community Library at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each Tuesday and Wednesday.
At 10 a.m. each Thursday, Mindy Baldwin is the teacher. She also teaches the same lesson each week at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Blackfoot Community Center and then again at 10:30 a.m. at Keann Peck's daycare.
On Thursday, Baldwin teaches Storytime at 10 a.m. at the Snake River Library.
"These kids are fun," she said.
"We love Storytime," said mom Mindy Williams.
