Cats snap Bronco win streak in 11-6 victory

Brady Pearson delivers a pitch during Blackfoot's home game with Madison on Tuesday.

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot Bronco baseball squad entered Tuesday's non-conference home game with the Madison Bobcats riding a 9 game winning streak. Unfortunately that streak came to and end as Madison took advantage of 6 Blackfoot fielding miscues in a 11-6 victory.
"It's really not the worst thing that happened today," Blackfoot head coach Kenny Dahle said. "It is a reality check for us. It should bring us back down to earth so we can refocus and get ready for Century and Bonneville."

Indeed a pair of conference games on Thursday and Friday of this week with the Diamonbacks loom on the horizon and Blackfoot was forced to use four different pitchers on Tuesday against the Bobcats.
Offensively the Broncos started out well with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 2-0- lead. Brady Pearson got the rally started with a one out walk which was immediately followed by a Madison error to allow Justin Mathie to reach base. Shad Lewis followed with a single to load the bases and one pitch later, Cody Evans laced an RBI single for the games first run. Zach Later added a sacrifice fly to score Mathie on the ensuing at bat.
Madison responded with a three run third inning however as they took advantage of three Blackfoot errors in the rally for the 3-2 lead.
Blackfoot tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the third inning when Mathie plated Colby Pearson with an RBI 2-out single. That was the highlite of the evening however as Madison erupted for 6 runs in the top of the fourth to take control of the contest.
Two more Madison runs in the top of the sixth made the score 11-3 but true to their nature, the Broncos didn't lay down as they tallied a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning when Cole Mansanarez scored Damon Bodkin and Zach Later with a towering 2run double to centerfield. Blackfoot added one more run in the bottom of the seventh when Russel Osborn scored on a sacrifice fly by Justin Mathie.
Blackfoot (12-5, 6-0) will look to shake off the set back when they travel to Halliwell Park in Pocatello to face off with Century in a game scheduled for a 4:30 start.
