Carol Ann Holm Esplin, beloved wife and mother, passed peacefully, Aug. 10, 2013 surrounded by her loving family, from a lingering illness.
She was born March 13, 1935 in Idaho Falls to Arthur and Thelma Holm. She was the second of two children.  At age two her family moved to a farm near Basalt. She attended school in Basalt and graduated from Firth High School. She went to business college and worked for a bank and tire company. Her secretary and accounting experience benefited her throughout her life as she took care of the bookwork for the family farm.
Growing up she has many memories of helping out on the family farm, using big workhorses and harvesting potatoes.
On Nov.4, 1955 she married Ronald Esplin in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in the Firth/Shelley area all their lives, where they built up a large family farm and dairy operation. Through the years she helped with many things on the farm including driving trucks, running for parts, and keeping all the records.
Carol was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as Young Women's president and went to girls camp for many years. She was also Relief Society president, and she and Ronald were stake dance directors. Carol and Ronald enjoyed dancing together throughout their lives. She was an avid letter writer and wrote weekly to all the ward missionaries and others in the stake as well as all the grandsons through the years as they served their missions. She also corresponded frequently with many friends and relatives.
She is well known for all her beautiful crewel embroidery pictures and they are being displayed in many homes. She also enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, and spending time with family.
The last couple of years as her health has declined she was blessed with a patient husband who cared for her and rarely left her side. This brought them even closer and has been a loving example to their family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one infant son.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Esplin; her four children: Keith (Caryn) Esplin of Rexburg; Brian (Trina) Esplin, Melanie (Rick) Likes, Blair (Cheryl) Esplin, and her brother, Garth (Ruthelda) Holm, all of the Firth/Shelley area. She also has 18 grandchildren and 25 great- grandchildren.
