Candidates can file for city and district position on Monday

Candidates can begin filing for city or district positions on Monday. Electors will vote during the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 7, to fill these positions.

Candidates for city, cemetery and fire protection districts positions can begin filing for his or her chosen position on Monday, Aug. 28. The filing period ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8. The candidate must submit his or her Declaration of Candidacy by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8 to the clerk of the city or taxing district.
In Blackfoot, each candidate must file his or her Declaration of Candidacy to the clerk of Blackfoot at City Hall by 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8.
Candidates must file a Declaration of Candidacy specifying the office sought and affirming that the individual is a qualified city or district elector, meaning, he or she is at least 18-years-old and a U.S. citizen. The candidate's primary residence must be within the city or district's boundary. The candidate's voter registration must match the residence address provided on the candidate's declaration and each candidate must have resided in the city or district for at least 30 days prior to submitting his or her declaration.
Declarations of Candidacy are available at the respective taxing district offices.
