Bronco season ends bitter sweet

IDAHO FALLS — After a 9-1 conference record and a first place finish in the regular season the Blackfoot Broncos looked poised for a deep run through the post season. That is why they continue to play the games however as the Broncos were upset for the second straight day, this time 4-2 at the hands of the Madison Bobcats.
"Goals. It's the most cliched thing in soccer. Goals win games," Blackfoot head coach Liam Pope said. "There is not a stat or a part of this game that we did not lead on besides goal and the whole tournament we just didn't put it away when we were on top and we were toothless, especially in the first half today."
Madison took a 1-0 lead into the break but Blackfoot battled back to tie the game at 1-1 in the 57th minute as Carlos Murrillo cashed in an opportunity in front of the net.
A twelve minute span then doomed the Broncos however as Madison reeled off 3 straight placing the game out of reach despite a Gera Bartolo goal in extra time.
"There will be bitter sweet memories of this season," Pope said. "I thought going in that we would be down this season but to earn the top seed was just tremendous. Then we get there, we get the ticket but then you find out that they won't let you in because the rooms full."
Blackfoot finishes the season with a 10-4-1 record.
