Alberto Tafoya battles the Idaho Falls Tiger defender during second half action at Blackfoot High School on Tuesday.
BLACKFOOT - Entering Tuesday evenings non-conference soccer match with Idaho Falls the Blackfoot Bronco soccer squad has not tasted a defeat in nearly a year but for seventy minutes on their home pitch it looked as if that unbeaten streak was coming to an end. That is until the Broncos awakened with a trio of goals from Andy Garcia, including a sweet header in the final seconds of play, as the defending state champions celebrated a thrilling come from behind 4-3 victory.
"I can not ever imagine a game, with our attacking ability and our ability to defend, where we are ever out of a game," Blackfoot head coach Liam Pope said. "We talked about the fact that while a win is great, it does not dismiss the fact that we didn't do a lot of the things that we normally do well today."

Following a Tiger goal in the sixty-eighth minute Blackfoot found themselves on the short end of a 3-1 ball game. Despite the deficit however, Blackfoot began putting more pressure on the Tigers which eventually led to an Andy Garcia goal in the seventy-third minute which ignited the Bronco spirit.
"Idaho Falls were winning every ball out there but like we've talked about in the past, the hardest lead to defend is the two goal lead," Coach Pope said. "We had been knocking on the door and then we get that second goal and suddenly our kids are up. We start gambling a bit more and we started flooding the box where we hadn't been doing that earlier."
Two minutes later the offensive flooding broke the Idaho Falls defensive dam as Garcia split the defense and then pounded home the tying goal with a blast off of the diving keepers hands.
Blackfoot capped the comeback in the games final seconds when Garcia headed in an Andres Godinez crossing pass for the game winner.
"It's exciting," Coach Pope said. "One minute I'm thinking that I will have to keep all sharp objects away from my boys and the next moment they're talking about celebrating at Rupes."
With the win Blackfoot improves their season record to 8-0-1 and they will return to action on Saturday when they host Skyline at 11 a.m.
