May 4, 2014

Jan Eddington, director of Bands for Blackfoot High School, was named the 2013 Idaho Music Educator of the Year by the Idaho Music Educators' Association in April. All Northwest Music Educator board member Camille Blackburn presents Eddington with the award.

Blackfoot High School band director Jan Eddington has been recognized as the 2013 Idaho Music Educator of the Year. She received this award last month at the Idaho Music Educators’ Association meeting in Nampa.
“I was totally caught by surprise,” Eddington said. “There are so many amazing teachers in this state.
“It makes me all the more appreciative of this honor,” she said. “It means a lot to be recognized by my peers because I have such respect for them.”
Eddington will retire at the end of this school year after 23 years of teaching music in public schools in Idaho.
Asked about her future plans, she said. “My retirement plans include spending time with my grandkids, teaching in my private studio, playing in the symphony and taking long walks in the woods.”
