Bingham Academy, a charter high school, will open for ninth and 10th graders in August 2014. The high school will be housed at 1350 Parkway Dr., Ste. 18 in the Riverside Plaza in Blackfoot. (The space was formerly leased by the movie theater.)
Registration for interested ninth and 10th graders is open now. (Grades 11 and 12 will be added in subsequent years.)

"A lot of stuff has gone on in the background," said board chairman Sigerson. "The Idaho Charter Commission has ratified our charter.
"We've put together the right team of people," he said. "Doug [Owen, Bingham Academy principal] is amazing. With the direction of the board, he is able to lead the charge."
"Lots of work is left to be done," said Sigerson. "There's the work of gaining students, hiring teachers and the work of remodeling [the facility]."
The facility is leased from the Woodbury Corp. from Salt Lake City. Woodbury Corp. has been in business 102 years.
"The face and function of shopping centers and human community have changed," said Sean Williams, Development/Leasing with Woodbury Corp.
"We are excited for the kids, the synergy they will bring and the knowledge they will gain," he said. "We anticipate an increase of traffic flow to food establishments.
"[The school] will change the look and feel of this shopping center," said Williams.
