Betty Lorraine Fife Tanner, 79, passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at her home in Blackfoot with her family around her.
Betty was born August 17, 1935 in Menan, Idaho, the daughter of John Guy Fife and Eleanor Melrie DallingÂ Fife.Â She lived in several Idaho towns as a child, including:Â Menan, Salmon, Sandpoint, Rigby, Idaho Falls and Blackfoot.Â After marriage she happily settled in Blackfoot.
Betty graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1954.Â She then went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
She married David Earl Tanner on December 13, 1957 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.Â They welcomed eight children into their family and hosted two exchange students.
Betty was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in Relief Society, Young Womenâ€™s and Primary; as well as many other callings through the years.
Betty enjoyed square dancing with her husband, time with her family, sewing, canning, and setting up her Christmas Village and Outdoor Lights.Â Â
She is survived by her husband, David; children, David Earl Tanner Jr., Kathy Lynn Bishop (Steven) of Blackfoot, Steven John Tanner (Linda) of Chubbuck and Vicki Jo Isaacson (Dave) of Malad; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Dale Fife; and sister, Carol Grimmett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her four sons who had muscular dystrophy, Layne Kent Tanner, Michael Clark Tanner, Bruce Fife Tanner and Jeffrey Alan Tanner; two grandchildren; and sisters, Marylin Barnes and Linda Pehrson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, August 28, 2014 at the Blackfoot LDS Stake Center, 1650 Highland Drive in Blackfoot, Idaho.Â Burial will follow at the Grove City Cemetery.
Visitation with family and friends is Wednesday evening from 6:30 p..m. to 8:30 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and one hour prior to the services at the church.Â Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.Â
