Barbara J. Manzanarez, 78, of Blackfoot, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot.
She was born May 31, 1933, in Midway, Utah, the daughter of James Thomas Wilson and Edith Shelton Wilson. Her mother died in her infancy and she was raised by a cousin Johannah in Heber, Utah. She received her education in Utah and moved a lot in her youth. She has lived in Idaho, Utah and California. She moved to Aberdeen in 1995 and then moved to Blackfoot in 2004.
She was married to Joe Manzanarez in 1962 in Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1996.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she had various different callings including a worker at the Bishopâ€™s Store House.
She enjoyed cross stitching and cooking. She especially liked spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband Joe of Blackfoot; two sons, Billy Manzanarez of Boise and Roger Manzanarez of Pocatello; and three daughters, Bonnie (Marcelino) Cardenas of Austin, Texas; Maryann Manzanarez of Pocatello; and Ellen (Edward) Wislodoski of Blackfoot; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her six loving stepchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son Johnny and stepson Wilson; her parents; five brothers, James, Glade, George, Joe and Earl; and five sisters Ethel, Jessie Mae, Virginia, Shirley and Dorothy.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home. The family will meet with friends for an hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home.
