Snake River seniors say good bye

THOMAS — It was senior night at Snake River High School on Wednesday evening as 8 seniors were honored for their contributions to the Snake River wrestling program over the years.
In addition, the Panthers welcomed conference rival American Falls for what has become one of the hottest rivalries on the mats in all of Southeastern Idaho.
At the end of the night, American Falls was able to get key wins, in some tightly contested matches, sending the Panther faithful home with a 46-27 loss.

THOMAS — Usually, during the course of a game there is one pivotal moment, a game changing play that defines the course and outcome of the game. On Tuesday evening, that moment may have been the Star Spangled Banner, the player introductions, or the opening tip for that matter. The game was never in doubt as Snake River led from wire-to-wire for a 68-36, mercy rule shortened, non-conference victory.

"Junior Jimmer!" Watt drops 25 in Panther win

THOMAS — The chant went up from a young group of awestruck Panther fans early in the fourth quarter of Snake Rivers 52-33 conference win over Marsh Valley on Friday night.
"Junior Jimmer!" they chanted as Candon Watt stepped back and cooly drilled his fourth trey of the night for 3 of his game high 25.

Panthers bounce back for win

THOMAS - The Sugar Salem Diggers invaded the Panther Lair at Snake River Wednesday night and the two teams stood like a pair of heavyweight fighters slugging it out on the defensive end before the Panthers edged clear in the late stages to register a 47-34 victory.
"We really played well defensively tonight against a strong team," said Coach Robert Coombs. "I expect that Sugar will finish first or second in their district so that is added emphasis on how well we played."

Knights out gun Broncos

BLACKFOOT — In the end it was a loss, but for Bronco fans in attendance at Wednesday evenings game against the Knights of Hillcrest, progress could be seen throughout the 86-73 defeat.
"Our offense is a lot better when we are a pass first team and you saw that out there tonight so at least we are making those strides because we had some really good possessions out there," Blackfoot head coach Jonathan Packer said. "We played with a lot of energy which I was happy to see."

Lady Russets complete season sweep of Lady Broncos

SHELLEY — Behind a double-double by senior post Sadee Wattenbarger, the Shelley Lady Russets completed a season sweep of their county neighbors on Tuesday evening by beating Blackfoot 57-41.
The game got off to a late start, due to some scheduling confusion, but the Lady Russets did anything but start late, sprinting from the opening tip with a full court pressure package that led to a 19-6 lead after the first period of play.

Firth cruises past Teton

FIRTH - In a game that at times seemed more like a rugby scrum than a basketball contest, the Firth Cougars scratched and clawed their way to a 70-48 non conference victory over the visiting Teton Redskins Friday night.
"Teton is a very physical team and they showed their physicality tonight, especially inside," said Coach Scott Adams. "I am sure that a lot of our players will have bumps and bruises tomorrow."

Bear Lake stuns Snake River

THOMAS — It was an odd night at Snake River High School on Thursday evening as the highly anticipated match up between the Bear Lake Bears and the Snake River Panthers unfolded upon the hardwood.
After a late start, due to a freshman overtime tussle, the Bears raced out to a 10-2 lead and never looked back, stealing the road win over the Panthers with a 49-40 victory.
