Plenty of action at fourth district rodeo

AMERICAN FALLS — The fourth district high school rodeo season hit the half way mark on Saturday afternoon as the talented prep stars wrapped up the sixth of twelve regular season rodeos at the American Falls rodeo arena.
With both fans and contestants enjoying far better weather than Friday evenings performance, the cowboys and cowgirls thrilled the spectators beginning with the first event of bareback riding which was won by Cooper Clemens and his 41 point ride.

Pearson no hits Russets in 14-0 win

SHELLEY — Colby Pearson threw a no hitter on Friday afternoon and the Blackfoot Broncos erupted for 14 runs in support of the pitching gem as the broncos downed the Shelley Russets 14-0 in six innings.
"In Thursday nights game Colby wanted the ball and today he came out focused and ready to go which I knew he would," Blackfoot head coach Kenny Dahle said. "He is such a competitor and to be one pitch away from a perfect game and to throw a no hitter is hard to do on any level so hats off to him."

Broncos leap over Russets 14-11

BLACKFOOT — In a game that featured 8 different pitchers, 20 hits and a combined 25 runs, the Blackfoot Broncos came out on top as they came from behind to down Shelley 14-11 at Blackfoot High School on Thursday evening.

Bronco tennis dominates Diggers on senior night

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot tennis season is winding it's way down and on Wednesday, the Broncos celebrated a trio of seniors prior to their dominating victory over Sugar-Salem.
At the end of the day, those seniors led the charge as each of them picked up wins with Mark Hudson demolishing his first singles foe 6-0, 6-0. Bobby Cannon teamed with Paul Cannon for an equally as impressive 6-0, 6-0 victory and Lindsay "Silky" Loveland cruised to a first mixed doubles victory with Tanner "Smoke" Norton as her doubles partner.

Lady Broncos send seniors out with sweep of Lady Bobcats

BLACKFOOT — Nine seniors took to the home softball diamond at Blackfoot High School on Tuesday evening for the final time in their prep careers. At the end of the evening, Blackfoot sent Brielle Brower, Tylie Polatis, Makayla Rowsell, Jamie Horsely, Ally Smith, Tesia Trube, Miraya Castaneda, Jarissa Jensen and Bailey Miller out winners as they swept both ends of the conference double dip with Madison 6-4 in game one and 13-4 in the nightcap.
"It was definitely nice to send these seniors out with wins," Blackfoot head coach Matt Chavez said. "They came out, stood up to the challenge and each and everyone of them contributed on a night that they weren't going to allow anyone to get a win on them."

Fourth disrict rodeo thrills crowd

POCATELLO — The fourth district high school rodeo wrapped up their Pocatello swing through the 2012 season on Saturday morning as the district took to the Bannock County Fairgrounds indoor arena for the final time.
Beginning with a rousing tribute to the districts seniors and with a clear sunny day, even if it was outside the arena doors, the districts best turned in fine rides and fast times all day long.

Lady Panthers prevail 4-3 in nine innings

RIVERSIDE — Snake River got 9 stellar innings of pitching from Erica Ramirez and a towering home run off the bat of Macy Martin as the Lady Panthers picked up a huge 4-3 conference win against Bear Lake on Wednesday evening.
"It was a good win," Snake River head coach Kay Martin said. "We made a couple of base running errors or we may have been able to win this game in seven innings but I couldn't be happier with the way the girls battled and got the win."

Panthers pummel Bears 10-0 in five

THOMAS — Shane Parkinson tossed five innings of 1 hit shutout baseball while the Panther offense erupted for 10 runs over four innings as the Snake River Panthers remained unbeaten in conference play with a convincing 10-0 victory over Bear Lake on Wednesday evening.
"Shane threw a good ball game and the kids just came out swinging the bats today," Snake River head coach James Carter said. "I'm happy with the win."
